Preschoolers commonly enjoy listening, talking, running and playing with others. Typically children of preschool age have learned many skills that help them to negotiate their environment and relate well to the people around them. CPSE programs are funded and regulated by the NYS Education Department. Services are provided at no cost to the family of eligible children. The Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) is a program that provides services to children from 3-5 years of age, who have, or are at risk of having, a developmental delay or disability. We are approved in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, and Otsego Counties to provide the following services: The multidisciplinary evaluation looks at the following areas of development: physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and adaptive.īuilding Blocks is a New York State approved EIP provider. ![]() To qualify, children must participate in a comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility status in the EIP as defined by New York State regulations. Health insurance, however, is not required to participate in the EIP. Health insurance may be used by the EIP for approved services for reimbursement. The EIP is funded and regulated by New York State and county governments. The new daycare is ready for those children to fill the empty seats and play.The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program available for children under the age of three who are either suspected of having, or at risk for, developmental delays or disabilities.Īll Early Intervention Services are provided at no cost to parents. "Nothing but the grocery shopping, everything is ready to go," said Dafoe. So the question is, after renovations and finding parents, what's next? "It's great that this facility is opening up to be able to accomodate those parents that might have a 2-year-old, a 5-year-old, a 7-year-old, where they all come to one faciility," says Crump. They're excited to get their kids back to a social and academic setting, and have a daycare center catering to a wide age range. She also says about 80 percent of the famiilies enrolled were previously with Building Blocks. A lot of them seem to be very excited to have the educational component, said Kinder Academy Daycare Owner Kinderly Dafoe.ĭafoe says the daycare focuses on phonetics and different weekly themes for learning. ![]() "I'm sure their families are relieved, you know, to give them some childcare help. "When we brought Lexie in, she came right into her old room and started playing with the toys and same thing today, she's very excited," said Crump. While there is no connection between the two daycares, the new owner and many former Building Blocks parents saw this as a great opportunity. "We're really lucky to have this opportunity, this new daycare coming into Potsdam, so it opens up more resources for the parents," said Kinder Academy parent Amanda Crump.įamilies lost a daycare option several months ago when the former business that occupied this space, Building Blocks Daycare, closed abruptly due to financial issues.
